Grading
Grading is an art and a skill that requires years of practice and patience. The subtle nuances between a totally original coin and a coin that been cleaned, tooled, repaired, over dipped, re-toned, etc. are many and cannot be totally learned from books and the internet. It takes lots of time looking at lots of coins. That being said, my focus here is to help you grade circulated examples of Capped Bust Half Dimes. Grading Mint State coins is a whole different animal. With Mint State coins a single grading point can mean thousands of dollars of difference in price. With Mint State coins, I trust and recommend buying only PCGS graded coins. PCGS is a great resource for information on basically anything to do with coins.
